Tim Kazurinsky, the Second City legend who plays Harold the Homeless Man in Mole Man, has just sold a one hour comedy pilot script to the BBC, and they are scheduled to shoot it late this summer!

Congratulations Tim, we can’t wait to see it!

Just to give everyone a point of reference for exactly how awesome this news is, here is a brief list of previous BBC-produced shows:

The (original, of course) Office

The Young Ones

Absolutely Fabulous

Black Adder

MONTY. PYTHON’S.  FLYING.  CIRCUS.

and Spaced.  (p.s. – If you haven’t seen Spaced and you’re a fan of Mole Man, do so immediately. It’s the TV show that introduced the world to the creators of “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.”)

“The problem with low budget horror comedies? They’re a dime a dozen and most of them just aren’t funny. But every now and then you find one that gets things right and upcoming effort The Mole Man Of Belmont Avenue might just be one of those.”

Chicago Sun-Times columnist Bill Zwecker mentions The Mole Man in his column today:

LOCAL LIGHTS: Though the man who played Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund, was not involved with ”The Nightmare on Elm Street” remake that recently wrapped filming here, the actor last week did shoot scenes with local actors Mike Bradecich and John La Flamboy in ”The Mole Man of Belmont Avenue,” the movie Bradecich and LaFlamboy co-wrote and are now co-directing here.
Bradecich is on a roll these days. Not only did he play former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s father-in-law, Dick Mell, in Second City’s smash hit ”Rod Blagojevich Superstar,” but he’s become a ubiquitous presence on TV lately — as the star of all those ”If it fits, it ships” commercials for the U.S. Postal Service.
